Slack Integration — Receive Notifications in Slack

What is the Slack integration?

With the Slack integration, you can connect your Slack workspace to Proyex. You’ll then receive selected notifications directly as messages in Slack—so you won’t miss a thing, even when you’re not currently working in Proyex.

How to connect Slack

1. Open your profile: Go to your profile settings.
2. Connect Slack: Click "Connect to Slack." You’ll be redirected to Slack.
3. Allow access: Confirm the permissions in Slack. Proyex needs permission to send messages in your Slack workspace.
4. Done: After confirmation, you’ll be redirected back to Proyex. The connection is active immediately.

What can the Slack bot do?

• Send notifications: The bot sends you Proyex notifications as direct messages in Slack.
• Custom settings: You can control which notifications you receive in Slack via your notification settings in Proyex.

Project Channel — Automatically post progress to a Slack channel

In addition to personal direct messages, you can specify a Slack channel for each project. Proyex will then automatically post the progress of that project there—keeping the team and the client informed without anyone having to check Proyex.

How to set up the project channel

1. Open the project: In the project, switch to the Slack tab (between “Guests” and “Settings”).
2. Select a channel: Find the desired channel in the list. Proyex automatically joins public channels when you save.
3. Set the confidentiality level: Specify who is in the channel—this determines what Proyex posts there (see below).
4. Save and test: Use “Send Test Message” to immediately check if the connection is working.

Who is in the channel? — the most important setting

This selection determines what information reaches the channel. It is intentionally required so that it is never accidentally set incorrectly.

• Team Only: All project events are reported—including those hidden from guests.
• Includes guests: Only information that the customer can already see in the portal is reported. A task hidden from guests, a hidden milestone, or a revision that hasn’t been approved yet will not appear there.

The check takes place at the moment of sending. So if you hide a task afterward, nothing further will be reported about it.

What is reported?

• Task completed
• Milestone reached
• Project completed
• New file in the project or attached to a task
• Revision approved or responded to by the client

The list is intentionally kept short: A channel that beeps for every little thing gets muted—and then the rest is useless too.

Private Channels

Private channels don’t appear in the selection list until Proyex has been invited to them. To do this, simply type /invite @Proyex into the relevant channel—after that, it will appear in the list. Proyex automatically joins public channels when you save them.

If Nothing Appears

If a message fails—for example, because Proyex has been removed from the channel or the channel has been archived—a notification will appear directly on the project’s Slack page. This means you don’t have to check yourself to see if the channel is still working.

Disconnect Slack

If you no longer want to use the Slack integration, click "Disconnect Slack" in your profile settings. The connection will be immediately disconnected, and no further messages will be sent via Slack.

Permissions

The Slack connection is a personal setting—each team member connects and disconnects Slack individually. No team-wide configuration is required.

Do other team members receive my notifications?

No. Each Slack connection is personal. Only you will receive your own notifications.

Do I need to be a Slack admin to use the integration?

No. You just need permission to install or use apps in your Slack workspace.

Can I disable certain notifications in Slack?

Yes. In your notification settings at Proyex, you can control which types of notifications are sent via Slack.

Slack was connected, but I’m no longer receiving messages. What’s the reason for this?

An error in the login process may have silently disconnected the service within a day, even though the integration page continued to show “connected.” The issue has been resolved. If you haven’t been receiving notifications, please reconnect—the old login credentials are no longer valid. Your channel assignments for each project will be preserved, so you don’t need to reselect the channel.
